Experience the magic of Palenque, Mexico with an educational week open to all levels of participants, including beginners. Maya Field Workshops are focused, on-site seminars devoted to introducing you to the world of Maya archaeology, art and epigraphy.

Over six days you will become immersed in the history and culture of an ancient Maya city in a completely unique experience that allows you to learn hieroglyphic writing on site.

Part of each day is spent at the site of Palenque, visiting waterfalls, ancient pyramids and royal courts, publicly accessible areas, restricted areas and ongoing excavations when possible. After stopping for lunch we gather together in a small workshop to learn how to read the hieroglyphs and delve deeply into the lives and dynastic history of its kings, queens, and courtiers.

Dinners are enjoyable times for us to celebrate what we’ve seen, new discoveries we’ve made, and to ask any questions that may have arisen during the day.

A key part of your experience will be the opportunity to learn about an ancient Maya court and its community in its original, genuine setting.

There is no other experience like this in the Maya world; Maya Field Workshops will give you insights into Palenque that few travelers have the opportunity to understand.
